The 2026 Met Gala is about to begin. On the first Monday in May, celebrities from the worlds of fashion, music and entertainment, including the best-dressed rapper, took to the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to show off their striking looks.
This year’s theme is “The Art of Costume” and the dress code is “Fashion is Art,” providing celebrities with the opportunity for a wide range of creative expression and bold fashion choices at a star-studded fundraiser and costume exhibition.
Even more exciting is that Beyoncé is one of the co-chairs of the apparel event taking place today (May 4). This also marks Beyoncé’s return to the Met Gala after ten years. Her husband Jay-Z attended the famous fashion night to support Queen Bey’s resurgence, as did their daughter Blue Ivy. This is a family affair. Trivia: Beyoncé made her Met Gala debut in May 2008.
Last year, the 2025 Met Gala was an iconic moment, with A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams serving as co-chairs. The evening was centered around black dandy elegance, with stylish looks from rap stars like Pusha T, Cardi B and Future. Other rappers Megan Thee Stallion, André 3000 (who brought a piano!), Doechii (who made his Met Gala appearance in shorts for the first time!) and many more showed up to show off their unique styles while using fashion as a tool for identity and creative rebellion against the status quo.
There were some bold fashion choices on this year’s green carpet.
Doja Cat stands out with her Saint Laurent silicone creations. Rapper and musician Anderson .Paak also made a splash, walking the steps in a sparkling black and white graphic print tuxedo and a bob haircut.
Meanwhile, London rhymer Skepta had everyone talking about him in a crisp all-white suit embroidered with black tattoos.
