DMC joins forces with Public Enemy legends to form FREEDOM, a new supergroup set to release “I’m On Your Side” on May 15th.
DMC just teamed up with two Public Enemy legends to create something that hasn’t been seen in a long time – some good political hip-hop.
New supergroup FREEDOM, featuring DMC, DJ Johnny Juice and Brian Hardgroove, will release their debut single “I’m On Your Side” on May 15th, and it’s not just another song.
It is a direct response to a lost world, a middle finger to corruption and the erosion of truth.
These three artists bring serious credentials. DMC has been defining hip-hop since Run-DMC changed everything, while Juice and Hardgroove spent decades as the centerpiece of Public Enemy, helping to shape politically conscious rap into an art form.
Now, they’re joining forces to create a collective that connects rock, hip-hop, and activism in an urgent and necessary way.
“I’m on Your Side” was written at a time when democracy was under siege and freedom became a luxury.
The song captures what it means to take back your voice when truth itself is contested territory.
It’s a rallying cry for those who refuse to remain silent, packed with beats that are impossible to ignore. The message is clear: together, freedom exists. Separately, we were screwed.
The music video was shot in one day in New York and was directed by Simon Kinney of Synergy Group Productions, whose credits include collaborations with Pink, Metallica and Ed Sheeran.
Another shoot took place in Santa Fe with co-director Zay Santos.
The result is a visual that matches the intensity and urgency of the song. FREEDOM has also launched a social platform where fans can connect directly with the group’s news and receive exclusive merchandise as part of the official launch.
