I believe this is the fifth extended show for Razakel, the San Antonio, Texas rapper and founder of Shrunken Head Entertainment. She is best known as a member of Slice Girls and 1/3 of Dead Girlz and 3FRMHELL, as well as being 1/2 of the band Serpentines, and has over a dozen solo albums as well as her most recent 4 feature-length dramas. She included a song on her recent full-length album Surprise, Surprise! Produced last fall by Grand Rapids, Michigan rapper, singer/songwriter, producer and Dirtcore Music founder Crossworm, now we have The Possession of Razakel.
“Sum1 Like U” begins with this industrial boom beat, lyrically talking about identifying those fake, living people who always wish for these specific types of people, while “Funeral” further embraces the industrial vibe, advising her naysayers to start planning their own memorials in advance, with no mercy. “Slasher,” on the other hand, closes out an EP that blends horror-core lyricism with EDM instrumentals.
Think about it: pretty much everyone on the current Dirtcore roster has put out new music on the label in the past four years, so I could entertain the idea of Crossworm reaching out to other artists in the underground and doing some sort of brief takeover. Mainly because I firmly believe people will consider “The Possession of Razakel” to be one of the greatest pieces of work she’s ever recorded in her entire career, a 10-minute grind of her grind over a smattering of industrial hip-hop beats.
Score: 8/10
