A Los Angeles woman praised the women who work at Twin Peaks and H######. But after one visit to Ojos Locos, she decided the girls there were in a “league of their own” and won her heart.
Honey (@honeyglazeddonut123), a TikTok influencer with over 16,000 followers, posted a video praising the staff of Ojos Locos. Her video, which has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, attracted the attention of Twin Peaks and H###### employees, as well as current Ojos Locos employees, who all expressed their opinions on the fact that Ojos Locos has “top” employees.
But commenters also helped Honey realize something: Workers in Ojos Locos clearly have more demands related to their employment. One viewer explained, “As someone who has worked there, the demands on Ojos and maintenance are just too high.”
So what’s the biggest difference between the staff at Ojos Locos and the staff at Twin Peaks or H######? How are Ojos Locos different from other “breastaurants”?
What are Ojos Locos?
Ojos Locos is an American restaurant chain operating in Dallas, Texas. It was founded by Rich Hicks and Todd East. Currently, there are approximately 35 locations. While the majority of locations are in Texas, there are also a handful of locations in Arizona, California, and Nevada.
Ojos Locos is relatively smaller than Twin Peaks and H######, which is one of the reasons why many people may not be familiar with it. But it’s also a popular “restaurant”—one where the experience is based on the aesthetic appearance of the service staff rather than the food itself.
Do Ojos Locos have stricter beauty standards for waiters?
Most of the commenters on Honey’s post had nothing but praise for the wait staff at Ojos Locos. But some point out that servers who are in their own “league” have to keep up appearances and be themselves in order to do this. For one, management is apparently very picky about who they hire. According to reviewers, this selective process is one of the reasons Ojos Locos restaurants may have extremely attractive waitresses.
But some TikTokers mentioned that Ojos Locos has much stricter maintenance requirements and expectations for its employees. When a viewer asked what the biggest difference between Twin Peaks and Ojos Locos was, a team member responded, “In Twin Peaks you have to be fit, dress up, and have glam makeup/hair pictures ready…the only difference is, Ojos you have to never have hair! [of] One week. ”
Another commenter described the sports bar requirement, stating that employees must dress as if they are going to a club every time they come to work. “Hair, makeup, eyelashes… nails, jewelry, etc. [expletive],” the audience said. “All dress-up days are like [expletive]. [You] So much money must be invested. “
How much does Ojos Locos girls cost?
Technically, these requirements are part of the reason why Ojos Locos are considered “a league of their own.” But this is also very expensive for the server. Regular eyelashes, hair treatments, and other beauty maintenance can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Most Americans already spend more than $700 a year on beauty-related products and services, with American women spending more than $1,000 a year.
Well, making glam makeup a constant expectation can quickly increase that number with little to no additional compensation. Some former servers say the extra landscaping has taken a financial toll. Additionally, a woman in Honey’s comments section claimed that she makes significantly less money at Ojos Locos than other “breasturants.”
But in the end, it does seem to be “worth it” for many employees. Ojos Locos employees who watched Honey’s videos at least enjoyed the reviewers’ praise for their awesomeness.
“As a former ojos girl, thank you,” one viewer said, providing a photo of herself working at the restaurant chain. For many, Haney’s laudatory posts helped validate the employees’ sense of “ojos first,” even if the requirements to work there may be a little strict.
