“Real people remember it as a $5 box of stuff.”
Taco Bell fans, this one’s for you. Some of your favorite menu items may have changed. The College Park, Md., customer was shocked by recent changes to her go-to combo order.
“I’m heartbroken to say the least,” student teacher @blk1934_ explained the news in her video. One review called her reporting “down-to-earth journalism.”
Taco Bell $6.99 Deluxe Box: Is It Still Worth It?
“I’m a little annoyed. Normally, I would buy the $6.99 deluxe box because I can get more money based on what I want to get with the box,” she said. “So, in the past…my first item would have been a Crunch Wrap, and then my second item would have been a beef five-layer burrito. Well, tell me why when I went to order today, both of those items were now on the first pick list. So, I could choose one or the other; I couldn’t get both in the same box. I could either choose the Crunch Wrap or the burrito.”
The TikToker also explained that she didn’t want to pay extra for upgrades to keep the same items she always gets in the Luxe Box, saying “that’s not the point” and the point is getting a good deal.

Are there any changes to the Taco Bell Deluxe Box?
While Taco Bell hasn’t released any official information about changes to Luxe Box options, the company has shared some recent menu changes. According to TheStreet, rising beef prices have forced the company to get creative with its menu. With beef prices rising 10% in the past year, restaurants across the country are coming up with creative solutions.
Perhaps Taco Bell’s menu changes have something to do with this trend in the restaurant industry. Taco Bell recently announced a new line of chicken products. Some of them are chicken versions of some beef-based delicacies. New products include crispy chicken nuggets in three flavors: Diablo Dusted, Doritos Cool Ranch and Flaming Hot. It also launched the Cantina Chicken Mexican Pizza with chipotle citrus salsa.
The increase in chicken menu items may be to offset the increase in the price of beef menu items.
Audience Reviews of Taco Bell’s $6.99 Deluxe Gift Box Change
Viewers noticed a change in the deluxe box options.
“No, I’m really tired of Taco Bell changing their menu every two weeks!” one comment said.
“OMG no they did change it. I’ll have to check that out because I usually get a thick 5 layer burrito with a chalupa,” said another.
“It used to be my favorite, but now it’s too expensive and unrealistic…like why do cheese quesadillas cost dollars?” someone else chimed in.
“Yep, my coworker and I discovered this last Friday!! We always get crunchy burritos with thick five layers and now you can only get a stupid taco,” another comment said.
Taco Bell isn’t the only company changing up its menu gimmicks. Wendy’s has made some changes recently, as has McDonald’s. It’s unclear what drove the changes. However, this could be a combination of companies trying to save money and finding new ways to keep customers interested.
