The Wireless Festival faces new uncertainty as controversy over Kanye West’s headline role intensifies and another sponsor joins PepsiCo in withdrawing support.

Diageo has officially canceled its sponsorship of Wireless Music Festival 2026, becoming the second major brand to distance itself from the event following a backlash over Kanye West’s booking. The spirits and drinks company confirmed its decision after raising concerns with festival organizers, The Independent reported.

A spokesman said: “We have informed the organizers of our concerns and, as things stand, Diageo will not be sponsoring the Wireless Festival 2026.”

The organizers’ silence contrasted with the London Wireless Festival’s deep scrutiny of Kanye West’s planned headline performance.

PepsiCo recently pulled out of the festival after more than a decade of co-branding. PepsiCo has previously served as the naming partner, with the event operating under co-branded naming rights in recent years. The succession of departures marks a significant financial and public relations challenge for one of the UK’s most high-profile and influential music festivals.

Political pressure surrounding the situation has also intensified. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called West’s inclusion “deeply disturbing,” while London Mayor Sadiq Khan publicly questioned whether the artist’s past actions were consistent with the city’s values.

West’s previous anti-Semitic comments and actions are at the heart of all the controversy.

The past has sparked widespread criticism both inside and outside the entertainment industry. Despite mental health challenges and a formal apology, the controversy continues.

Organizers of Wireless Festival have yet to publicly address the controversy or clarify whether West’s scheduled performance will go ahead as planned. The rapper is currently expected to headline three consecutive nights at the July event.

Industry insiders speculate whether the festival will seek more partners or make adjustments to its programming.

Corporate sponsorship plays an important role in the operation and visibility of the festival. Losing them is especially important as the event rapidly approaches.

West recently released his album Bully to rave reviews from his fans. He also resumed live appearances, winning rave reviews from observers.
