Ab-Soul received his blessing of the name KRS-Two directly from the legend himself, marking a spiritual transference of hip-hop wisdom.
KRS-One has just delivered one of Hip-Hop’s most meaningful blessings to Ab-Soul, officially granting him the rights to use the KRS-Two name.
The moment came to a close on March 19 at Los Angeles’ Blue Note Music Hall, where the legendary emcee stood alongside Ab-Soul and Talib Kweli, cementing a generational legacy of knowledge and respect for more than just a stage name.
Ab-Soul stood up and asked directly: “Please tell people that I have your permission and grace to become KRS-Two.”
That’s when KRS-One disrupted the situation with the wisdom only he could offer.

“You’ve been blessed. It’s a burden and it’s a blessing,” he said, explaining that KRS stands for “Knowledge Supreme.” He emphasized that knowledge guides our lives and consciousness shapes us.
Teacha didn’t stop there. He explained the importance of carrying the name, saying his aura rejects those who are inauthentic.
“You can’t be around me and not be real,” KRS-One said. He believes that the appearance of Abu’s soul is no accident. He interprets it as the universe bringing the right person to the right place at the right time.
“You could have been prevented from coming here a hundred ways. You got here. You are here. I know. Knowledge reigns supreme. You are lucky. Carry on the name with respect and honor.”
This blessing holds great influence in hip-hop culture, especially coming from someone who has been driving knowledge and awareness in the culture for decades.
Ab-Soul’s acceptance of the KRS-Two name means more than just a name change.
This is a spiritual and intellectual legacy from one of hip-hop’s most respected voices.
KRS-One has always been committed to elevating culture through education and awareness, and passing this torch to Ab-Soul marks his recognition of the young MC’s commitment to these same principles.
