“So it’s a sliding scale?”
All this Los Angeles man wanted was Coca-Cola from Panda Express, but employees wouldn’t let him win. After noticing some unclear language on the menu, @badgaysdoitwell asked the employee a clarifying question. The employee was not very helpful.
“Well, yesterday I was at Panda Express and ordered a Coca-Cola, a glass,” he said. “I asked how much because I saw on the menu ‘Bottled drinks cost $2.80 to $3.30,’ and I asked how much a Coke was and she said, ‘It costs between $2.80 and $3.30.'” I was like, “Okay, but how much does a Coke cost?” She pointed to the menu and said, “That’s what it says right here,” and I was like how much? [expletive]I know! What’s the price? “
The second comment was @badgaysdoitwell’s frustration
“So it’s a sliding scale?” one comment said.
“Shhh,” said another.
Another comment posted a sarcastic pointing meme.
How much does a bottle of Coke cost on Panda Express?
It’s unclear what the final price of the Coke was or whether the employee answered his questions. While the Panda Express staff won’t give @badgaysdoitwell the answer, this article will.
According to 24/7 Wall St, a 12-ounce can of Coke sells for $2.00 to $2.69. That’s changed dramatically since the early 2000s, when you could find a bottle of Coke almost anywhere for as little as 75 cents.
Of note, @badgaysdoitwell wanted a Coke. Judging from the Panda Express menu at a store in Los Angeles, a Coke (also known as Mexican Coke) costs $3.20. If @badgaysdoitwell ends up getting a coke, this is probably what he’ll pay for it.
What is Mexican Coke?
Mexican Coke is a fan favorite. According to an article in Smithsonian Magazine, demand for them has increased significantly over the past decade, with big box stores like Costco even selling them. But what’s the difference?
Mexican Coke, as the name suggests, is made in Mexico. Their biggest lure is that they’re made with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. There is much debate in public health circles about whether high-fructose corn syrup is actually worse for health than cane sugar. However, some Mexican Coke drinkers confirm that it tastes at least slightly different than regular Coke.
Additionally, aesthetics are another attraction of Mexican Coke. Its stylish glass bottle design makes it comfortable to hold and creates the illusion of a higher quality product. The glass bottle was even patented 14 years ago!
Apparently, @badgaysdoitwell belongs to Americans who love Mexican Coke. I hope he won’t be so nervous next time he goes shopping.
