Zuri Reed stars as young Tasha St. Patrick in Starz’s highly anticipated Power: Origins prequel series.
Zuri Reed just landed the role that would change everything about her career. The rising actress stars as a younger version of Tasha St. Patrick in the upcoming Power: Origins prequel series.
She is playing some serious roles. Naturi Naughton made Tasha one of the most complex characters in the Thrones universe over multiple seasons.
Now Reed shows us how Tasha became the woman we know. This prequel series will delve into the early stories before Ghost, Tommy, and all the drama that made Thrones a cultural phenomenon.
Reed has been building up her resume with smaller roles, but this is her big break. Power: Origins is expected to be one of Starz’s biggest movies of the year, and playing young Tasha puts her at the center of it all.
This casting makes a lot of sense when you look at Reed’s series. She possesses the intensity that Norton brought to the original character, plus the acting chops to handle the dramatic storylines “Thrones” is famous for.
Starz hasn’t revealed much about Origins’ timeline yet. But we know it’s going to go back and show how these characters became who they were before the main series started.
This means Reed will explore Tasha’s origin story from the beginning.
The Thrones universe continues to expand with new spin-offs and prequels. Book 2, 3, and 4 all found their audiences, so Origins had huge expectations to meet.
According to Deadline, production on Thrones will begin filming in Atlanta this summer.
