Tory Lanez’s shooting conviction stands, and the California Supreme Court has denied his request for a review of his criminal case.

According to the latest results on appealcases.courtinfo.ca.gov, on Wednesday (February 25), the California Supreme Court rejected Tory Lanez’s defense request to review his conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. The latest ruling comes three months after a California appeals court upheld his conviction.

XXL has reached out to Tory Lanez’s attorney for comment.

The case stems from his July 2020 shooting death of Megan Thee Stallion during an argument in the Hollywood Hills. Tory was convicted in December 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

The 33-year-old Canadian rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2022. Although he continued to claim innocence, Tory’s attempts to overturn the verdict and secure a new trial failed. He will be eligible for parole in August 2029.

In an interview with NBC News in December 2025, Tory insisted that he had been wrongly convicted.

“I believe not only was I wrongly convicted, but the amount of new evidence that has emerged since that trial is overwhelming,” he said.

When asked what message he wants to send to Meghan now, Tori said he doesn’t hate her and would rather talk to her in person rather than through an interview.

“I thought I wouldn’t say anything directly to her, I wanted that moment to happen in person,” he said. “We’ve both been through a lot. There’s this connotation, like I have the same hatred for her, but I don’t. I’m really over it. I’m healing in my life. I’m taking responsibility for the things I did wrong. When I talk about my case, I don’t want it to be thought that I came to her, because that’s not the case. I’m just asking for someone in the system to come look at my case and ask about my case.

Tory is currently incarcerated at the California Men’s Prison in San Luis Obispo, California.
