Diddy got some good news in her legal battle. Arguments in his appeal are officially scheduled for April 9, 2026.
U.S. Circuit Court Judge Beth Robinson granted their request to expedite the appeal process. This means Diddy won’t have to wait years to appear in court.
Case calendaring is the process by which courts schedule hearing and argument dates. For appeals, this means setting a specific date for attorneys to argue their cases in front of a judge.
Diddy is contesting two counts of traffic prostitution.
He was sentenced to four years in prison in October 2025 after a jury found him guilty of the charges. But they cleared him of bigger charges – sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
Prosecutors sought to portray him as the leader of a criminal group. They said he orchestrated parties called “freak offs” where he forced people to have sex. On the most serious charge, the jury did not accept the government’s argument.
Diddy’s lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, said Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced the bad boy mogul to a “harsh” sentence but acquitted him of his actions. She believes the government is using an old, time-honored law to pursue consensual adult relationships.
Federal prosecutors have yet to respond to Didi’s appeal. But they will definitely fight back. In January, they told the court they “intend to file an appeal brief on or before February 20, 2026.”
Didi is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Facility at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was transferred there from the harsh conditions of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Fort Dix is considered much more comfortable than MDC.
Under his current sentence, the 55-year-old tycoon will be released from prison on May 8, 2028. But his call could change everything. If he wins, he may be released sooner or even overturned.
Didi has maintained her innocence throughout the case. His attorneys say the relationships were consensual and the government distorted the facts to fit its narrative. But the disgraced tycoon admits he was wrong to abuse the women in his life, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
“I would like to personally apologize to Cassie Ventura again for any harm I have caused her, emotionally or physically,” Diddy said. “My behavior was disgusting, disgraceful and disgusting.”
If Coombs wins his appeal, the government could ask for a retrial or take the case to the Supreme Court. But this will take more time and is not guaranteed.
Based on Combs’ current sentence, the Bureau of Prisons plans to release Combs in May 2028.
