A$AP Rocky recalls spending a month in a Swedish prison in 2019.
On Tuesday (January 20), Ebro Darden shared a clip from his upcoming tell-all interview with Pretty Flacko. In this video, Rocky talks about the incident that made international news when he was arrested and jailed for assault in Sweden.
“Let me break it down,” Loki said. “The cells are about the same size as here. A little smaller. No bathroom. Just a sink and a mirror, a bed, a table and a cot. When you need to go to the bathroom, you have to ask for permission. You ring the bell. Sometimes, they make you stay in the bathroom in the dark for about an hour because the lights go out after five minutes.”
“If you take a shower, they don’t run out of towels,” Locke continued. “You have to make your own makeshift towels. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t Rikers [Island]but very inconvenient. It’s not sweet. “
The Harlem, New York, rapper said he began to learn more about his case when international news covered it and President Trump began talking about releasing Rocky.
“I was honored, but then I felt really low,” he added. “But when I saw my peers … everyone was like, ‘Yo, this isn’t right.’ … Honestly, Ebro, it lifted my spirits up so crazy that even when I got out of jail, I was still on a high.”
A$AP Rocky and two of his security guards were arrested in July 2019 following an altercation in Sweden during the tour. Rocky spent about 30 days in jail dealing with the case, during which time President Trump was outspoken about his release. Rocky went on trial in August of that year and was later released while awaiting sentencing. He was later found guilty but avoided further jail time.
