Shoreline Mafia are in a new era but haven’t given up on the West Coast energy that turned their movement into multiple gold records and a plethora of songs. Fenix Flexin and Ohgeesy treated fans to a new album and solid work last year, including streaming success, respected collaborations and a Coachella performance, their first collaboration in more than five years. Shoreline Mafia joins XXL’s Talk It Up series powered by DistroKid to discuss their new music this year with Coi Leray, what’s next and more.

The duo from California represent a small sliver of rap groups that still exists in the culture. In 2020, Fenix, 30, and Ohgeesy, 32, launched their Mafia Bidness album during the pandemic, serving certified beatmakers like “Bands” and “Perc Popper” that summer. The two then took a break from their Shoreline career to devote their time to their solo careers. Fenix has released four projects, including Fenix Flexin Vol.1. Ohgeesy has GeezyWorld, GeezyWorld 2, Trophies and 1 through 3 and Back Flexin from 2021 to 2024, while Ohgeesy dropped Paid N Full with Berner and Geesy from 2021 to 2025. Album joint project Trophies.

After a four-year hiatus, Shoreline reunited as a duo last spring to release Back in Bidness, which features the critically acclaimed title track “Touch Down” and “Back 2 Back.” They also solidified their reputation with appearances on Coi’s “Act Like You Know” and YG’s “Hollywood” in 2025. A new era of shoreline mafia is emerging. “I think the fans loved it,” Ogisi said. “We had three gold records in one year.”

“Old fans, day one supporters, they rock with us as always,” Phoenix added. “But I will say, this is a whole new generation of fans who have caught up with our music in four years and they don’t even know who’s in the band. They just heard Shoreline Mafia’s music. Now they’re putting a face to the music they’ve been listening to, and I feel like that creates a lot more excitement for the audience.”

On Coi’s collaboration “Act Like You Know,” the two rappers are surprised to find that she’s been in tune with their moves for a while. “She said she and Shoreline had been together a long time,” Oghseey shared. “When we heard the beat, we were like, we’re definitely going to do that. I feel like she did it on purpose with the West Coast L.A. [sound]. Once she said, ‘Put this on your dead brother,’ I was like, here we go. “We heard that and thought, this is the perfect fit,” Phoenix added.

Looking ahead to 2026, new Shoreline Mafia music is coming. They’re figuring out the direction they want to go in, but it will definitely include some ladies-friendly playa vibes and upgrades. “We’re in that kitchen,” Phoenix insisted. “It touches on different bases and different emotions, you know what I mean, that we go through that fans can relate to. That’s how we grow musically.” “We make something mature and sexy,” Ogisi said.

Check out Shoreline Mafia discussing their bill for 2026, the new music they’re working on, why rap groups are so rare these days, working with Coi on a West Coast hit and more below.
