Fat Joe and French Montana’s business tensions crop up in a room filled with legends.
During a recent sit-down to discuss “Joe & Jada” Chin, the energy shifted when French casually pulled apart the paperwork behind “All The Way Up.” oops.
Now, let’s be clear. This isn’t a feud or a viral meltdown. French Montana mentioned that he initially did not receive any public records. There isn’t any. He thought Joe had his best interests at heart. According to him, it wasn’t until he circled back with his attorney that the situation changed.
The awkwardness intensified when “Fat Joe” stepped in to clarify that French ended up getting 10 percent. Franky corrected him immediately. Five percent, he said. Max B’s nervous laughter told what was to come. There’s just such embarrassment.
French said he has adjusted. I wonder how much this burned into his soul over the years.
Mentioning it publicly feels intentional, almost like a quiet reminder that hurtful memories never go away. Friendships are preserved.
Fat Joe has long had a reputation for avoiding public conflict and preferring to clean up messes behind the scenes. That’s a great way to put it. I know what Joe was dealing with behind the scenes involving Dee Dee and Biggie. I’m glad there’s no beef here because that thing is serious. Still, moments like this serve as signals, especially in hip-hop… and now others are talking about them, too.
If anything, the French issue was like a push…a little reminder.
