Spotify has removed thousands of fake rap artist accounts after an internal audit flagged artificial streaming activity, duplicated metadata, and AI-generated profiles.
The cleanup is part of Spotify’s effort to protect legitimate artists and ensure accurate discovery and chart data. Independent musicians welcomed the move, saying fake accounts dilute visibility and distort streaming performance across the platform.
