Just this Friday, Fetty Wap gave his first interview since his release from prison on “The Breakfast Club,” where the rapper opened up about his life behind bars. The rapper was released from Sandstone Federal Correctional Facility 11 months earlier than planned after serving time for a federal drug-trafficking case.
While Fetty Wap talked about a range of topics, one aspect of prison life caught fans’ attention almost immediately. The rapper spoke about the support he received while in prison, talking about artists like Coi Leray and 50 Cent. The rapper said 50 Cent has done the most to make his life easier.
“Man, 50, I don’t know where to start with him. 50 has done a lot for me. From day one, he’s been like, reaching out, like, ‘Yo, whatever you need, just say hi to me.’ … Whatever I need, he’s there. He answers the call. He doesn’t shy away … He’s probably the biggest as far as financial and mental help,” he said. Check out the full interview below (the 50 Cent mention comes around 7:43!)
In all the online trolling that 50 Cent does, it can be easy to forget the way he quietly shows up for his people, and the Fetty Wap situation is a powerful reminder of that fact. What do you think?
