“Fabolous” goes straight to 50 Cent, and the silence that follows may be the loudest response yet.

50 Cent is quiet. Maino, Jim Jones, Fabolous and Dave East all decided to rap and poke bears on Fif’s instrumentals on Christmas Day. We all leaned forward. Usually, this is where the explosion occurs. Someone said something. Someone tweeted something. Heck, even the memes fall off. Silence was not what he expected and it made me suspicious.
The verses themselves are mostly lighthearted quarrels. Jim Jones showed some aggression but never actually crossed the street and rang the doorbell. Ha ha! However, the Fabulous Man did not participate in the competition. The Brooklyn veteran goes straight for the nerves of the ’50s. He began to respond positively to the squatters’ talk, even mentioning Fife’s baby mama. I heard it and cringed. By the way, folks, there was a time when Fab’s name came up in the King of New York’s conversation. This guy released an album the same day Jay-Z released The Blueprint and stood on it. The guy with the broken teeth shows up like the Grinch.
That’s why 50 Cent didn’t respond. History shows he usually responds immediately. He wasn’t sitting disrespectfully. He turns it into content and tries to destroy the person. But after a whole day, we found nothing. So…now we have to think.
To be fair, 50 is very careful in picking its targets these days. He recently took aim at Lil Kim in a video, trolling her appearance and saying she looked like an alien. Yet Nicki Minaj remains unaffected. Interesting. Anyway…
So what happens now? One theory is strategy. The other is respect. The third is fear, although 50 Cent doesn’t know the word. Myths are not trolls! He was a microphone technician. If this becomes lyrical, the playing field changes. Most people think that turning 50 is not a good thing.
Maybe Fife is cooking. Maybe he’s letting the internet do the work for him. Or maybe he knew that spending time at the bar with Fab opened a door he’d rather keep closed. One more thing: He might be digging up dirt on FABO. We know he’s good at that, too.
Regardless, we’re all watching…the clock is ticking.
