Drake takes over hip-hop charts, ‘Take Care’ crushes new album

Drake topped the hip-hop charts as his 2011 album “Take Care” outsold new albums.

Drake’s 2011 classic “Take Care” sold 21,000 copies in the week ending December 6, beating out Cardi B and Tyler, The Creator to top the hip-hop album sales chart.

More than a decade after its release, “Take Care” continues to outperform new records, proving that Drake’s catalog remains relevant in the streaming market.

Since its initial release, Take Care has received critical acclaim for its emotional depth and genre-bending sound. Featuring the likes of Rihanna, Lil Wayne and The Weeknd, the album helped cement Drake’s status as hip-hop’s dominant force.

The album’s revival puts it ahead of Cardi B’s AM I THE DRAMA? (No. 2 with 20,000 sales) and Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA (No. 3 with 19,000 sales).

Drake also charted with several other projects, including “Views,” “Certified Lover Boy” and “For All The Dogs,” each of which saw notable weekly sales. His collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, the tape “Some sexy Songs 4 U”, sold an additional 17,000 units this week, tying the same number as Kendrick Lamar’s unexpected release of GNX.

The data shows how traditional albums continue to thrive. Streaming platforms allow older projects to remain commercially relevant, with Drake’s dominance on multiple entries being a clear example of this.

Other notable placements include Eminem’s “Curtain Call,” Kanye West’s “Graduation,” and Kendrick Lamar’s good boy “mAAd city,” all of which hold strong positions on the charts.

Gunna’s The Last Wun and Playboi Carti’s MUSIC each sold 14,000 copies, while Lil Baby’s My Turn added another 12,000 copies to the long-term sales tally.
