Blacc Zacc has reportedly been charged with murder-for-hire and RICO conspiracy and could face the death penalty.
On Thursday (December 4), South Carolina news outlet The State reported that the rapper from Columbia, South Carolina, is currently considering final punishment for his alleged crimes, which include large-scale drug trafficking operations, robberies and murders in aid of the gang.
According to the “New York State” report, former South Carolina federal prosecutor and famous Columbia defense attorney Bill Nettles (Bill Nettles) has been appointed as Blake Zucker’s (formerly known as Zachary Chapman) “senior counsel.”
Particularly in federal death penalty cases, the law requires the defense to have an “experienced attorney,” that is, to appoint an attorney who is qualified and has experience defending capital cases. Blacc Zacc will also be represented by John Warren, as Nettles is required by law to have the assistance of another attorney.
A decision on whether this becomes a death penalty case will be made by U.S. Justice Department officials and could take months.
Blacc Zacc was arrested on October 28 by the U.S. Marshals Service. He faces a 22-page indictment accusing him of leading Dark Money Entertainment (DME), which authorities say is a South Carolina-based street gang. The indictment lists an incident in September 2021 in which Zucker allegedly placed a bounty on a rival gang member who he believed had stolen a diamond chain. The man was killed the following month.
Blake Zucker has pleaded not guilty. He is currently in the Spartanburg County Jail awaiting trial. He was refused bail.
XXL has contacted Blacc Zacc’s attorney for comment.
