Maxx B is officially out of prison.
The rapper, born Charley Wingate, was originally sentenced to 75 years in prison for murder and armed robbery. After a 2009 trial, he and co-defendant Kelvin Leerdam were found guilty of nine of 11 counts, including felony murder.
However, in 2016, Max B pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated manslaughter after a state Superior Court judge vacated the rapper’s conviction due to a conflict of interest involving one of the rapper’s former defense attorneys. The judge then sentenced him to 20 years in prison, with time served to clear the way for his release.
You can watch Max B’s video below, in which he paid tribute to family and friends, including his close assistant French Montana.
Upon his release, Max B will be sentenced to five years of probation.
