D’Angelo’s name still lingers in the hearts of those who cherish his voice. I heard the world might have one last chance to pay tribute to him. Fans are mourning the enigmatic singer, songwriter and producer, born Michael Eugene Archer, who passed away quietly earlier this month. Now, I hear plans are being made for a homecoming ceremony worthy of his genius.
While details remain strictly confidential, sources tell AllHipHop that organizers are working on something extraordinary for D. I was told they were going to work out a dead version of D’Angelo somehow. This would make him come alive, but I’m not sure if they’re talking about artificial intelligence or some other type of art.
This aroused people’s curiosity. We don’t know what it is, but it may break with tradition by blending music, visuals and spiritual symbolism. For some reason, I feel like The Roots are going to be at the center of everything they do.
The exact location and date have yet to be confirmed, but many expect the event to be public, similar to DMX’s 2021 Homecoming at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Being a Virginian, I thought it might have been in Richmond. It only makes sense to include fans.
