New Orleans police have beefed up their presence at YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s back-to-back shows in the city, adding 400 officers to ensure event security.
YB performs at the Smoothie King Center on Sunday (October 19) and has another show tonight (October 20). According to reports, after learning that rivals of Top colleagues planned to attend the event, the NOPD decided to hire an additional 400 officers with the assistance of state, local and federal partners to prevent any violence. NOPD Assistant Superintendent Hans Ganthier said they will also deploy “tactical units, drones, armored vehicles.”
“Our public message to everyone is that the NOPD is prepared for this event,” he said. “If you must carry a gun, do not come to the area of interest. Leave the gun at home.”
Law enforcement sources told Fox 8 that precautions were also taken after YoungBoy’s second Atlanta concert was canceled after the rapper’s entourage clashed with Atlanta police at the State Farm Arena VIP entrance.
Sunday night’s show seemed to go off without a hitch. However, there was chaos after the concert. In the video, YoungBoy is seen walking down Bourbon Street and is surrounded by a crowd of fans while police officers aggressively try to pull him out of the crowd.
YB’s MASA tour has 14 games left, including Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, Seattle and other places.
