Rapper Future, an artist considered by many to be one of the most innovative voices of the past few decades, has found himself in trouble as of late. Specifically, the rapper is being sued by photographer Garey C. Gomez for copyright infringement.
The project is Mixtape Pluto, and Future allegedly used photos taken by Gomez of the Dungeon Family’s home without proper permission. The complainants are now seeking justice, claiming damages and “profits resulting from the infringement” on the grounds that the uninhibited use caused “irreparable” damage.
The case was filed on Oct. 2 against Titol Retail and Wilburn Holding Company, which Gomez said is affiliated with Future and its brand Freebandz, according to Complex’s document review. Apparently, two of the photos used to market and sell merchandise belong to Gomez and are registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.
Now, the ball is in Future’s court; how do you think he should respond?
