CeeLo Green brings the charm of his hometown, while Trombone Shorty joins his iconic New Orleans brass at the 34th Annual AIDS Walk and Music Festival in Atlanta, helping to raise $1 million for HIV and AIDS services in the region.

The event took place last week at Piedmont Park and combined a 5km walk and live performance to benefit 12 local organizations focusing on education, prevention and treatment.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation is the world’s largest nonprofit provider of HIV/AIDS care, hosted the event with the support of AHF Pharmacy, Wells Fargo and FedEx.

Thousands of people attended the gathering that highlighted the ongoing fight against HIV, while celebrating community and resilience through music and movement.

“This annual event gives people a better understanding of the impact of HIV and AIDS on local communities in Atlanta and also provides an opportunity to bring together thousands of people from the region to raise important funds for these 12 valuable organizations,” said Dr. Felicia Ivey, AHF Atlanta Regional Director.

“AHF is proud to use this event as one of many ways we educate and empower local communities to participate in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We are pleased that Trombone Shorty will work with us to advance this important cause,” added Dr. Ivey.

Five-time Grammy winner CeeLo sang a affectionate song to celebrate his Atlanta roots.

Trombone Shorty is known for blending jazz and hip-hop, and the high-energy brass he brings is moving audiences. Previous performers include Luda Cris, Monica, Ashanti, Veer and Trina.

The proceeds from the event will benefit groups such as Atlanta Aid, Bridge of Light, Georgia Equality and Transgender Women’s Color Therapy Program.

AHF currently provides care to more than 2 million people in 45 countries. For more information on the activity and its impact, visit idswalkatlanta.org.
