Stage settings and licenses force last minute cancellation
Kendrick Lamar canceled his Bogota concert just hours after the showtime customer concerns and licensing issues stopped the event on Saturday (September 27). Despite claims online that low sales resulted in cancellation votes, sources confirmed the show was almost sold out with only 2% of seats not sold.
Lamar’s team considered “stage issues and allowable issues” as the reason for pulling the plug, noting that the venue does not approve the use of pyrotechnic technology. “Tonight’s show was nearly sold out before the show started,” a source posted.
Local officials raised red flags about site safety
Bogota City Councilman José Cuesta Novoa publicly criticized the venue, warning of the situation a few days before the concert. “We mentioned this in the public audience,” he wrote on Twitter X. “The venue has structural and technical glitches in its construction. I ask Mayor @CarloSfgalan to close the venue immediately.”
Local media reported that engineers marked the aluminum stage structure during the safety inspection. The site reportedly denied Lamar’s requirement to use fireworks, thus making production more complicated.
Chaotic technical failures and long lines
The unconfirmed report also noted that ticket scanners and longer entrance lines, although the main issues remain closely related to the site’s infrastructure and lack of permits. The concert is part of the Latin American track of the “GNX” tour launched by Lamar in Mexico and will continue in Brazil.
As the tour progresses, Bogota is waiting
There is no official news on whether Bogota will be rescheduled. Lamar continues to tour the show in Brazil before heading to Australia later this year.
