Finesse2tymes is once again in legal trouble in Tyler, Texas after routine traffic parking has led to drug charges from Memphis rapper and his car passengers.
The rapper, born Ricky Hampton, was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt while driving a red frigate on Claude Street. The officers said they smelled marijuana and noticed a hand-rolled cigar in the ashtray.
When they started searching for the vehicles, passenger Shugga was born in Halie Buckingham, allegedly grabbing a bag from the floor, prompting a deeper search.
In the bag, officers found 0.7 ounces of marijuana, 12 oxycodone pills and seven oxyphenidate pills, according to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
Finesse2tymes was booked for possession of marijuana. Buckingham is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of marijuana. Both were released in Bond before 4:50 a.m. Saturday.
The arrest came shortly after Finesse2tymes performed in Smith County’s local concert.
He has run with the law many times. Finesse2tymes has served for six years for aggravated robbery since 2010, and in 2017 he was sentenced to a five-year federal verdict on weapons charges. He was released from prison in July 2022.
Last summer, Houston police issued a Finesse2tymes arrest warrant for unreturned rental cars, but the charges were later dropped.
