Teen Celeste Rivas Identified in d4vd Tesla Case — Full Investigation Timeline

Authorities have confirmed that the body found in an impounded Tesla registered to singer d4vd (David Anthony Burke) is that of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, missing since April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California.

The discovery was made after the vehicle, abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, was towed to a yard. Staff reported a foul odor, prompting inspection that revealed human remains inside the front trunk. Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, though the cause of death remains undetermined pending further forensic analysis. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office identified the remains earlier this week, ending months of uncertainty for Celeste’s family.

Her relatives have since launched a GoFundMe for funeral costs, writing that their “hearts are shattered” while demanding answers from law enforcement. Police executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills home where d4vd had been staying. Reports indicate that computers and personal devices were seized, suggesting detectives are combing through digital evidence to reconstruct a timeline of events. Authorities have not announced any arrests, nor have they publicly linked d4vd directly to the death, but the case remains open and under active investigation. The music industry has responded swiftly.

Kali Uchis announced she is removing their collaboration “Crashing” from streaming services, and several brands—including fashion and footwear partners—have paused campaigns featuring d4vd. At least one tour date has already been canceled, though his team says he continues to cooperate fully with investigators. The story has also triggered online debate about the uneasy line between presumption of innocence and industry accountability. On social platforms, some fans have resurfaced a track in his discography that referenced the name “Celeste,” fueling speculation that authorities have not confirmed.

Others point to a shared tattoo design as raising additional questions. Beyond the controversy, the case highlights broader cultural issues: how quickly public opinion can shift, how collaborators and companies react under pressure, and how music communities process allegations that intersect with tragedy. For hip-hop and its extended circles, it has become one of the most closely watched developments of 2025.
