Metro Boomin has invited Dr. Elizabeth F. Loftus, a prominent psychologist, to testify in his defense, as he prepares to face a civil sexual assault trial in federal court in Los Angeles.
Dr. Loftus, a leading institution in memory science, is expected to argue that Vanessa Lemaistre’s memories (the woman who accused hip-hop producers of rape) may be unreliable due to psychological factors, including trauma, treatment and media influences.
“Based on my comments, my professional view is that there are major memory issues in the current case,” she said.
The lawsuit filed in October 2024, claiming that Metro Boomin gave her Xanax and alcohol at a studio meeting in Los Angeles, committing drug and sexual assault on Lemaistre in 2016.
She claimed she later woke up in a hotel room in Beverly Hills and found him beat her and became pregnant because of it, eventually ending her pregnancy.
Lemaistre’s lawsuit also claims that the lyrics of Metro Boomin’s 2017 track “Rap Saved Me” refer to alleged incidents.
Dr. Loftus highlighted the differences in Lemaistre’s medical records, which is part of her expert opinion.
She said: “I don’t have any direct information [LeMaistre] lying intentionally, but there is one fact that realizes this potential: according to the information in her testimony, [LeMaistre] Attempts to modify certain parts of her medical record related to her November 2016 abortion. ”
She noted that the changes related to the so-called time of encounter and whether or not abuse occurred, the Lemasters initially denied it.
“There are other explanations about why [LeMaistre] Attempts to change records, which can be revealed by further discovery. ” Loftus added.
Dr. Loftus, a distinguished professor at UC Irving, testified in more than 300 high-profile cases, including those involving Michael Jackson and Duke Lacrosse players.
Her research has seriously affected how the courts deal with memory, especially in cases involving trauma and advice.
The Metro denied all charges and called the lawsuit “pure shaking”. If he is competent, his legal team has shown a possible counterclaim for a malicious prosecution.
The case is now scheduled to be tried on September 23, 2025 after the failed mediation talks in July 2025.
