Funkmaster Flex says “last show” and Internet Goofs thinks it means retirement

Fans Things Funkmaster Flex is retired, but they may be completely wrong.

Funkmaster Flex and retirement rumors are blowing up the internet. However, the Internet has poor reading comprehension ability. The man never said he hung everything up. What Flex does say is: “This Monday Labor Day, September 1st and [sic] Be my last show on Hot 97 at 7pm! I really like the end of the era! Enjoy everything! I’m going to make a great show on the last show! Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years! ”That’s it.

So why do people act like the King of Bombs just announced their funeral? “He’s a good Ol Wily DJ!” People spin it into a mature retirement story, like Flex is about to escape to the Florida golf course. But those who really understand Flex and Radio will understand better.

Flex is an experienced veteran and radio legend. Older people on the radio are often pushed to the ranch, but this is not the “end.” The whisper in the industry says that Flex is moving to a daytime transition rather than waving goodbye. Will Hot 97 really let their most iconic DJs go out? Not likely. Love him or hate him, Flex is a living fixture in hip-hop culture. His voice, drops and bombs are part of the station’s DNA.

The real clown is how fast people draw conclusions. Just like people want to write his own sue, it’s not just about facing the facts. Flex has developed too much – brand, heritage, influence – and cannot simply quit. hurry up. The smarter the reading is that he is moving the time slot. This is a big difference from retirement.

Don’t bury the fuchsia elastic temporarily. The man has been feeding hip-hop music through radio waves for decades. I know there are a lot of people who don’t like him, but this is neither here nor here.
