Joey Bada $$ revealed that despite his shouting out the Compton superstar, he is actually a fan of Kendrick Lamar’s “Don’t Like Us”.
The New Yorker reflected on the war with the West Coast last year while speaking at the breakfast club.
“My energy is more connected to it, like, it does come in all your moments, but New York City has something to say, too.
Joey continued, “But I’m like 2025, it’s fun. It’s a fun nature for me. This rap is a sport and I have a lot of allies in the West. From my point of view, if you’ve really seen it, I’m not disrespectful, it’s not my intention. That’s not my intention, but I like ‘yo we opappin’.”
He concluded: “All summer, I’ve been walking on the ‘don’t like our’ trip.”
Joey abandoned many of the Diss tracks targeting various artists on the West Coast, saving some of the most serious barbs for Kendrick.
Joey said in the Diss track “The Final”: “I pay tribute to Kenny, but I know you’re very clear/Are you in the competition? Then just know I’ll be here.”
The track is mainly aimed at TDE rapper Rey Vaughn, and also includes: “The way to get Dot Dick to sit in your mouth / do nothing with you in N-GGA / you’re not going to let you in HOUSE / I hit a nnn-ggas, what I encountered on n-ggas, I didn’t even do like him, it’s a funny n-ggas, like him, you’ll encounter any funny n-ggas.
In January, things began between Joey and the entire West Coast.
On the song, he rapped: “Too much West Coast dick lickin’ / I’m hearing n-ggas throwin’ rocks, really ain’t shit stickin’ / ‘Cause if we’re talking bar for bar, really it’s slim pickings / I rap like I draw pentagrams and kill chickens, n-gga / Fuck around with your soul like Ether, quick for a feature / This that black Air Force energy coin’ out your speaker.”
