Raekwon said his marijuana adventure in Newark never had a fair shot, claiming he and his team were “blinded” by landlords after a judge ordered the closure of his dispensary Hashstoria, more than $500,000 in unpaid rent and fees.
Property owner BMHC LLC filed a lawsuit alleging that payments were not paid for several months.
But, Raekwon staff said there is more to this story. They believe they have a verbal agreement to stop or adjust rent payments during extended building delays and allow issues related to the City of Newark, which prevents businesses from generating revenue.

“We’re blinded and while this is a very sad outcome, we’re going to spend a day in court,” Raekwon told TMZ Hip Hop.
According to a representative from Hashstoria, landlords not only ignored their rental arrangements, but also allowed unlicensed pharmacies to operate next door.
The illegal store, they said, attracted repeated police raids and damaged the reputation of its legal business, which the store called itself a “legal AF” to demonstrate its compliance.
The team behind Hashstoria is a black-owned business, he said they face constant regulatory barriers that others in the market don’t have to navigate.
Despite being evict, Raekwon plans to take action against the landlord for alleged misleading and damage to the business.
Meanwhile, BMHC LLC insists that after the grand opening of the pharmacy, they gave Hashstoria plenty of time to catch up with the rent and are now looking for new tenants to fill the space.
Raekwon returns with new album
Raekwon’s legal battle was exactly when he gave up on his first solo album in eight years.
