DDG is pushing for a court-approved visit with his baby son in Rome, while Halle Bailey continues to shoot overseas and gives temporary custody of the little boy following allegations of abuse.
According to Billboard, at a hearing in Los Angeles Tuesday (June 24), the rapper and YouTuber asked the court to allow his mother to supervise the time with 6-month-old Halo in Italy.
But Bailey’s legal team opposed it, saying DDG’s mother “enabled” what he claimed to behave and regularly publishes articles about Bailey and Halo Online.
The judge called DDG’s request “reasonable” but ruled that any visits must be monitored by a neutral professional third party (rather than relatives or friends) in anticipation of ongoing security concerns.
If granted, DDG will also be banned from sharing any photos, videos or social media posts that reference Halo during the visit.
Both sides are now working to ensure Rome’s qualified monitors. A follow-up hearing will be held on Friday (June 26) to finalize logistics.
Bailey has been granted sole custody on multiple charges of DDG for multiple assaults, including an incident that allegedly occurred in front of the child.
In response, DDG filed its own custody petition, claiming that Bailey was the one who posed a threat to his son’s happiness.
He claimed that she used the threat of self-harm as a form of emotional manipulation and believed that she presented “imminent emotional and psychological risks” to the halo.
Halle Bailey denied the claims and noted in court documents that DDG “exaggerated the situation” and that she “full control over her mental health”.
“I have been and continue to be 100% available and able to be our son Halo parents,” Bailey said in the announcement.
