Jalen Rose will receive the 2025 ICE Cube Impact Award in September at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts for work in education and community development.
Ice Cube, hip-hop idol and co-founder of Big3 Basketball League, chose the Rose honors for his commitment to improving Detroit youth through academics and track and field.
“Jaylen has been a force of kindness throughout his career,” Ice Cube said. “He not only gives back to the community through fundraising, education and most importantly through basketball, but also leads by example, he supports it by celebrating the exact value of this award.”
Rose is a former NBA player and current television analyst who founded the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy in 2011. Public Charter High School with no tuition fees serves students in Detroit and focuses on college preparation.
The school offers AP courses, dual enrollment, university travel and summer courses. Rose remains the chairman of the board and is currently leading a $20 million capital campaign to expand the school.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame by the Iceland Impact Award,” Ross said. “The Cube is a family and we are all committed to giving back to our community. Basketball creates opportunities for us in different ways and allows both of us to have a lasting impact in court. I’m proud of this recognition and pride in celebrating in the museum in the hall.”
In addition to his work in education, Ross serves on the board of the National Basketball Players Association Foundation and works with New Era Detroit, a local group focused on community safety and advocacy.
He also established a scholarship at his alma mater, University of Michigan.
The Ice Cube Impact Award was launched in 2024 to respect individuals who use basketball to drive meaningful change.
Ice Cube won the inaugural award for his role in creating the Big3 League, which showcases professionals in 3-on-3 basketball and promotes diversity and opportunities in the sport.
John L. Doleva, president and CEO of Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, praised the collaboration.
“Ice Cube has an influence beyond entertainment, and he is a cultural icon who is using his platform to enhance the community through education and philanthropy,” Doleva said.
The award will be presented on the weekend of Saturday, September 6.
