Kendrick Lamar ruled the 2025 BET Awards at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (June 9), and walked away with the best traction of the night and eliminated Drake in several major categories.
Lamar leads the field with 10 nominations, collecting five trophies, including GNX album of the year, Best Male Hip-hop Artist – his eighth victory in the category – and his annual video of Drake Diss Track “Non Like Us” who ranked on the charts.
He also worked with long-time creative partner Dave Free for Luther and Video Director of the Year.
Since its inception in 2017, the album of the year has won a victory with Beyoncé.
During the acceptance speech, Lamar remained rooted and grateful.
“The bets always make sure they represent culture correctly and always put me in the cycle we represent, which is truly real down-to-earth music that people can feel,” he said.
He also thanks God and his PGLANG team before nodding to SZA.
“SZA in the crowd,” he added. “We are on tour now; please take the show.”
Host Kevin Hart surprised Lamar with other trophys after his victory. “You win all year,” Hart joked. “So I think I’ll stand in front of it.”
He also teased “That’s your problem” and Lamar struggled to win the award.
The ceremony marks the 25th anniversary of the BET Award. The night performances were from Lil Wayne, Glorilla, Playboi Carti, Leon Thomas, and more.
Kendrick Lamar’s five wins made him the most dedicated artist of the night.
