With exclusive sit-down at Invite Holly Studios only, Allhiphop chops it up with one of New Orleans’ most exciting voices Rob49. Rob49 stands out, from working with Lil Wayne, Cardi B and Birdman to reflecting on his time in projects, colleges and community services.
Known for his unfiltered energy and street authenticity, the rapper also discusses fame fatigue, his plans to abandon multiple projects, and why he doesn’t like fake jewelry. With the power building and the rolling of the main co-signation, Rob49’s next move could solidify his new generation of voice. But no doubt-he still planted both feet firmly in reality. This edited the Q&A surrounding the level of rooted artists with global dreams. Watch the video for a full unedited performance.
Allhiphop (Chuck Creekmur): What’s wrong with rob49! First, congratulations on “What that really is.” The record is everywhere.
ROB49: Thanks for it. It feels good because I believe it. This gives me confidence in the next one.
AllhipHop: You recorded this in New York last year, right?
Rob49: Yes, June. My friend told me that was that. I listened.
AllhipHop: How the crazy Tyrese Haliburton started to stand out in the NBA after you named him.
ROB49: Blame me! [laughs] Of course, this is my fault!
Allhiphop: The album lets me fly has 22 tracks and some serious features – Per meter, Wayne, Cardi B, Birdman. Why so big?
ROB49: Everything I do now is big. Mixtape or album – I want to prove that we don’t play.
AllhipHop: What is the “we” in it?
Rob49: My people. Moki, YB F, Eloise Shim, Hot Boy. It’s our turn.
Allhiphop: Birdman is not raping on the album. Did you ask him?
ROB49: He wants to! But I told him to just talk about it. I want him to do everything, just talk, not rap.
Allhiphop: You and Sexy Red also linked a track. Studio session or remote?
Rob49: Fat and I are in the studio. We sent it to the red – she eliminated it.
AllhipHop: People really connect with your music. Why do you think that is?
ROB49: “Because we rap about our actual life. That’s why it hits.
AllhipHop: You are turning down New Orleans. Did Teenager or Wayne inspire you?
Rob49: Wayne, heavy. I’m sorry when I grow up. He is like Napoleon of rap.
AllhipHop: How does it feel to record with him?
Rob49: Crazy. legend. The greatest rapper is still alive – he is five minutes away from me.
AllhipHop: You participated in the project. When will things start to divert for you?
ROB49: I just grew up on something. Loss of interest in street things.
AllhipHop: Do you remember your first rap?
ROB49: High school. Pull up my dog Clint and make a song. But I really start in 2020.
Allhiphop: “Wthelly” of your freedom, right?
Rob49: Yes. I just got in, lined up and kept it original.
AllhipHop: High-profile people like LeBron, and even Madonna co-signed. Do you expect it?
ROB49: Not at all. Madonna raps on the video. That blows my thoughts.
AllhipHop: What’s next?
Rob49: Luxury next week. Then Herb and I dropped the video. More albums, collaborations – Nonstop Motion.

AllhipHop: Herbo’s collaboration feels like you’ve brought him into your world.
ROB49: He likes it, too. But yes, I want him on my turf.
AllhipHop: How do you plan to avoid the pitfall of becoming famous?
ROB49: Stay in the path God gave me. No bad intentions.
AllhipHop: You have a record that is specifically introduced to your mom. How did she affect you?
ROB49: She put me in roots. I told her to go home so I could handle the business, but she was behind the scenes.
Allhiphop: We heard you go to college.
ROB49: Yes, Southern University (South University and A&M College). Nursing professional. Everything except English failed. I like writing.
AllhipHop: You have done a lot for the community, too.
Rob49: Yes. Last year, we rescued people, gave up clothes, threw a celebrity basketball game, just brought hope to hope.
AllhipHop: Are you always aware of your influence?
Rob49: No. But I began to understand. this is true.
AllhipHop: What are your top five?
ROB49: Biggie, Wayne, Drake, Jay-Z, Kendrick. and Rob49.
Allhiphop: Your dream goes beyond music?
ROB49: Move out of the countryside and put down music from Bali or in a quiet place.
AllhipHop: Respect. Is there any last words?
Rob49: Thank you. Thank you for having me.
