Last summer, Chicago, Illinois Commander D2X emerged from his first EP, The Hunger era. Released his full-length studio debut album Color Blue in spring 2021, and later a few summers of sophomore effort. Like I said before: The Hunger Age is essentially a love letter to Youwind City, which caused him to launch a bigger shock wave underground than the shock wave of his first pair and wondered if the boy in the blue hoodie could reach or exceed the same level.
The harp at the beginning of “The Day” makes the ears pleasant until the chipmunk Soul instrument has full effect, which makes the Chicago MC tell the story of a little boy’s dream and finds its own peace on the next album, while “Light the Lake the Lake” takes a sample of horns and souls and gives itself a better version of the lover. After the spoken jazz “Miles Away” Interlude, “Blue Ocean Water” brings the story of a boy wearing a blue hoodie with a thumping relative, reminiscent of Heatmakerz calling himself the future Hall of Fame.
Understandably, D2X continues from the hunger that pays tribute to the city, which makes him conceive of his own position, thus allowing him to be more introspective, in one person and in his background. One of the coolest things about boys in the blue hoodie is that he balances the sound of jazz rap, he has always been known for the production style of Chipmunk souls, RZA, YE or formerly Kanye West, Just Blaze & As I mentioned before, Heatmakerz has all the pioneers and popularized the story of his life.
Score: 9/10
