Diddy grabbed the phone and planted a tracking device on his assistant and then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura to monitor their movements, according to the fourth week of the federal sex trafficking case of hip-hop tycoon on Monday (June 2).
The woman testified under the pseudonym “MIA” and had previously worked at Diddy for eight years and returned to the stands after testifying last Thursday and Friday.
She claimed that the 55-year-old music executive would usually pick up his phone and Cassie’s, once gave her a flip phone that strictly recorded his directional content.
“He stole Cassie’s phone number several times,” Mia told the court. “He stole my phone several times.” She also accused Didi of “in the [Cassie’s] car, added that she felt “feared” by his behavior.
Diddy, who once admitted to pleading not guilty, faces charges of including sex trafficking, extortion and transporting individuals to interstate prostitution. The trial attracted national attention and continued in federal court.
Diddy’s lawyer Brian Steel urged Mia why she still texted the tycoon’s holiday greetings between 2018 and 2023 despite ending her job in 2017.
Mia also testified that she was instructed to use a flipped phone to shoot content for Diddy until he hired a full-time video crew. But she said she “will not be allowed to film” any violence involving him.
Ventura dated Diddy from 2007 to 2018 and had previously filed a civil lawsuit against him in 2023, which settled within 24 hours. Her claims include physical abuse and coercion during love.
The trial is expected to continue throughout the week.
