Boosie received two honorary doctorates at a ceremony held at the Kingdom Heritage University in St. Petersburg, Florida and recognized his influence in hip-hop and his contribution to musical work.
The rapper’s legal name is Torrence Hatch Jr., who received his honorary doctorate on May 10, 2025. In both music creation and a second honorary doctorate, the university is awarded for its impact on the music industry.
The event marks a scholarly recognition that a person known for his original lyrics and street characters is rarer than academic acclaim.
“We are here to honor you. Your pain is not wasted. Your platform has a purpose. Your legacy has just begun. We know your name is Lil Boosie. Now Paradise will be Dr. Hatch,” Dr. Bishop Michael Bates said at the ceremony.

Boosie is obviously exciting, speaking to the crowd with a brief but heartfelt message.
He said: “I just want to say thank you. I’m really grateful. I’ve never got anything like this. So I’m really grateful.”
Kingdom Heritage University is a faith-based institution that highlights his journey and transformation as part of the reasoning behind honors.
The celebration was widely shared on social media platforms, with fans and supporters congratulating the rapper on his transformation into doctor.
