Xavier Trudeau hopes to follow in the footsteps of fellow Canadian Drake into the world of hip-hop and R&B and stay away from his political lineage as the son of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The 17-year-old is under the name of “Xav”, an independent artist determined to prove that he is more than just a last name.
His debut single, Til The Nights Done, fell on February 21, 2025, and he has released two more singles, including his latest single, Back Me Up.
Xavier Trudeau said he was on a personal mission to find fulfillment outside the walls of the Lido hut.

“At that time I learned something, people of my age were learning. I met any A-level celebrity you could think of. That’s actually why I actually started doing these things. It’s always a pleasure to be in these places, in these places, safe around, private escorts. It’s always a sick feeling. It’s always a sick feeling. But, inside, I don’t like what I created, I didn’t do it. Interview.
Xav’s music draws inspiration from artists like Drake, Post Malone, Weeknd and Justin Bieber.
But unlike his music icon, Xav is not a major record label support. He chose to remain independent, release music through the Pathway Music Group and build his own brand from scratch.
Xav lives in Rideau Cottage with his mother, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and siblings, and he is still protected by security due to his father’s ex-role role.
Despite his privilege, he said lifestyle leaves something more authentic.
“I want to create an identity for myself. I want to be Zav. I don’t want to be the son of Justin Trudeau,” Xav said.
Justin Trudeau resigned as prime minister in January 2024 after nearly a decade of office. Now, his son is trying to lead – this time, this time on the rankings.
