Doechii directly addressed the Grammy’s rebound and the internet trolls in a recent Metropolitan interview, and she made it clear that she wasn’t afraid to speak out loud.
The 26-year-old rapper, who won the Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony, responded to allegations that she had lip synced in a high-energy show.
“That’s what my DJ’s voice is in that I can’t say, because I’m doing somersaults. The whole show is live!” she said in a video message shortly after the performance in February.
Doechii said in reflection on the incident: “With the Grammys, I’m kidding.
Although she is not the one who keeps involved online, the Tampa-born artist makes it clear that she won’t be silent if asked for that moment.
“Will I keep responding online? No, that’s not something I like to practice,” she said. “But I do believe 100% of the time and place to defend myself. If it happens to be through the internet, maybe.”
Still, she acknowledged the possible losses.
“However, it’s not sustainable that I keep moving back and forth and reacting to people online.”
Doechii became the third woman to win the best rap album at the milestone achieved on February 4.
