Laurence Fishburne said he reached out to join the matrix to resurrection but was rejected.
The legendary actor revealed that his proposal to re-promote Morpheus was met silently.
The 63-year-old launched the iconic Red Face Mentor’s role in the 1999 Science Fiction Classic and returned to the 2003 sequel.
Fishburne told the daytime talk show that he made it clear that he wanted to participate in the fourth episode.
“I served the fourth matrix and they didn’t react to it,” Fishburne said. “So, hey, it’s not that I didn’t say, ‘Oh, I want to serve you my service.’ I did.
Matrix Resurrection, released in 2021, brings Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss back to Neo and Trinity, but introduces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a reimagined young version of Morpheus.
Fishburne appears only through archival clips. When the film premiered, the decision to recast Morpheus caught the attention, but Fishburne has remained quiet in his absence until now.
His comments indicate that he is willing to return but are excluded from the loop.
The fifth piece of matrix movie is already in the work, and vampire killer screenwriter Buffy will be writing and direct.
Lana Wachowski, who co-created the original trilogy, will be the executive producer.
When asked if he was considering returning this time, Fishburne did not rule it out.
“It depends on the situation, the participants, the level of writing the script, if they provide it to me…so, you know, we’ll see.”
