The Sean “Didy” comb has just won a court victory with Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, with a federal judge in Manhattan dismissing five major claims in the explosive lawsuit that accused hip-hop tycoon of going from singing to emotional torture.
In a 31-page ruling, Judge J. Paul Oetken committed Jones’s 402 complaint, abandoning some of the toughest allegations against DIDDY, including a major blow to Jones’ legal team under the requirements of the Rackets’ Impact and Corruption Organization Act (RICO).
“Jones did not address these arguments in the opposition summary,” the judge wrote. Attorneys who mocked Rhodes Jr. did not support his lawsuit. “While the court prefers to decide on the merits, it does not have to be rooted in Jones’ new arguments on behalf of Jones.”
Didi’s defense team slammed the lawsuit as a “Garden Variety Breach of Contract”, a simple legal division – disguised as a federal RICO case, and the judge agreed.
“Jones’ efforts to turn the Garden Variety…a breach of contract case into a RICO lawsuit failed,” the ruling said.
The judge also dismissed two counts of intentional emotional distress, one of which was a claim of negligence causing emotional distress and breach of contract allegations. Most importantly, the judge abandoned Jones’s human trafficking statement (under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, forged a comb.
This still leaves behind 14 reasons for action, including several allegations related to sexual assault and TVPA claims against Diddy himself.
The lawsuit was originally filed in February 2024, claiming that Jones served as producer of abuse, sexual coercion and psychological manipulation patterns during Diddy’s Love album production.
The ruling clearly revealed Jones’s legal strategic weakness, especially when the judge warned Tyrone Blackburn, the attorney who filed the lawsuit. Still, that doesn’t mean Diddy is completely out of the way.
The core of the case (particularly sexual trafficking and abuse claims) has so far. But, as Rico understands, one of the heaviest legal hammers has been placed.
Diddy’s federal trial on RICO charges will begin on May 5.
