Will Smith is working on a “Hit Up” sequel without original director Andy Tennant, who revealed he didn’t know about the project until recently.

The sequel to Will Smith is a sequel to his 2005 romantic comedy, but according to film director Andy Tennant, he was not involved in the project.
Tennant, who hosted the original film starring Will Smith as professional dating consultant Alex “Hitch” Hitchens, recently told Business Insider that he only learned about the sequel a few months ago, and He was not invited to attend.
“I submitted a proposal for a sequel, which is fun, but I think Will is working on a pairing sequel without me,” Tennant said. “I just found out about this three months ago. I have a sequel A good idea, I’m talking to an executive at Sony who said Will’s production company is making a sequel. Hey, that’s Hollywood.”
Despite his absence from the project, Tennant insists that even though neither of them has said it since the film was promoted twenty years ago, there is no sadness about the Independence Day star.
“When it was over, my time with Will was over. That’s it. I haven’t heard from him since then,” he said.
Andy Tennant also reflected the challenge of making the original film, revealing that Smith left the project almost a few days before filming began.
“Will tried to quit for three days before we started shooting. He wanted to close and do more work. It was crazy,” Tennant recalled.
The director described the production process as a creatively divided production process, and Will Smith struggled for story elements Tennant did not join.
“We had difficulties,” Tennant admitted. “The movies I want to make and the movies I want to make, and this movie is not as good as the movies we made together. It’s a fight. (Smith’s wife) Jada (Pinkett Smith) helped a lot . She kind of seconded some of my intuition. There was a time when I delayed a lot of crazy ### during the preparation period.”
While details about the hook sequel remain little, Smith’s involvement as the driving force behind the project shows that he has a new vision for his beloved rom-com.
