Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar is for all intents and purposes over. disses no longer appear. The number of submarines is limited. Due to the huge success of “Not Like Us,” Drake decided to take legal action. The story has been written, but the debate continues. People continue to argue that Six actually won the fight or beat Kendrick Lamar. Others, like Glass Malone, thought Drake could never win this battle with what he stood for. He recently expressed this view during a DJ Akademiks live show.

DJ Akademiks has always been on Drake’s side. Malone has never had glasses. He told Ak that rapping ability never mattered in a fight. He thinks Drake is destined to fail because he doesn’t represent what he considers “the culture.” “It’s not because he’s from Toronto,” Malone said. “Because he’s a Jew from the suburbs.” DJ Akademiks vehemently disputes this stance, but Glasses Malone stands firm. “He’s just not hip-hop,” he said. “Hip-hop is street urban culture. He’s a pop artist, he’s the rapper Madonna.”

Glasses Malone compares Drake to Madonna

Madonna’s metaphor especially stings. While unfair on the surface, Glasses Malone backed up this statement by pointing out how many times Drake has changed his style. He mentioned the music video for “The Motto,” in which Drake champions Bay Area sounds. Then he mentioned “starting from the bottom.” Glasses Malone believes that 6 God treats hip-hop the same way a pop artist treats a pop or trendy genre. “In a week, he’s going to have a Lowrider under the Bay Bridge, he’s a West Coast artist,” the rapper speculated. “Next week, he’s going to be a New York artist who started from the bottom.”

DJ Akademiks tried to refute Glasses Malone’s criticism by citing Eminem and 21 Savage. Rappers, because of their place of birth or the color of their skin, have their credibility questioned in the same way. Glasses Malone considers Eminem and 21 Savage to be part of “the culture,” noting their credibility in the community. “Drake is an artist,” Malone asserts. “That doesn’t make him cultural.” Do you agree with the rapper?

Elias’ favorite artists are Andre 3000, MF Doom, pre-808s Kanye West and Tyler, The Creator. He likes L.A. hip-hop, but not L.A. sports teams. The first album he bought was Will Smith’s “Big Willie Style,” which he thinks still sounds great.
