The future of the upcoming Grammy Awards, which will be held in Los Angeles on February 2, has reportedly been in limbo for the past few days as wildfires in California have claimed more than two dozen lives since then and thousands of acres of property.

Recording Academy and MusiCares CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Board Chair Tammy Hurt issued a joint statement on Monday (January 13), revealing that the show must go on.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. This city is our home, and we express our condolences for the loss of life and destruction that has occurred in recent days,” the statement read. “We are working closely with local authorities. “Coordinated to ensure public safety and the responsible use of regional resources, the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, televised on CBS on February 2, will proceed as planned.”

In addition to the show, the platform will be used to raise funds for bushfire relief efforts.

“This year’s show, however, will bring a new sense of purpose: to raise more funds to support wildfire relief efforts and to honor the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” the statement continued. “In In challenging times, music has the unparalleled power to heal, comfort and unite. The Grammy Awards will not only celebrate the artistry and achievements of our music community, but also serve as a platform to amplify the resilience that defines the great city of Los Angeles. .

The Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million to aid music professionals and launched Los Angeles Fire Rescue.

The 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in three weeks at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Kendrick Lamar won seven awards, five of which were for his hit single “Not Like Us.” Beyonce leads all artists with 11 nominations.
