Tory Lanez could be serving a decade in prison for the 2020 shooting death of Megan Thee Stallion, but he’s still out for allegedly harassing the Grammy-winning rapper Involved in a legal action.
Meghan accused Tory Lanez of orchestrating a targeted attack on her through a third-party associate while in prison, prompting her to file for a restraining order last week.
Megan Thee Stallion filed the plea on Dec. 17, accusing Lanez of recruiting bloggers and others to spread rumors about her, which she said caused “severe emotional distress” and harmed her reputation.
In her plea, Meghan said Tori Lanez was engaging in “psychological warfare” and that she “sometimes wished Tori had shot me if I had known I would be going through this torture.”
Tori Lanez, however, has denied the accusations and said her claims were baseless and an attempt to manipulate the legal process.
Lanez’s legal team responded to Meghan’s recent legal dispute between the two rappers, accusing her of “weaponizing the justice system.”
“When celebrities with millions of dollars and support from major corporations disagree with free speech or opinion, they weaponize the justice system, fail to understand that they are public figures, voluntarily thrust themselves into the spotlight, and are unable to deal with controversy and public attention.
They further claimed Meghan’s request was aimed at suppressing opinions rather than engaging in public discussion.
This latest legal skirmish reignites tensions from a July 2020 incident when Meghan accused Lanez of kicking her feet after an argument while leaving a Hollywood party hosted by Kylie Jenner gun.
Meghan was initially reluctant to come forward, but later publicly identified Lanez as the shooter. He was convicted in December 2022 of three felonies, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and sentenced in August 2023.
Despite their acrimonious history, Tory Lanez’s lawyers have fired back, insisting their client is “no longer a threat” and has had no direct contact with Meghan since her conviction.
The court will deal with the restraining order on January 9, 2025.
