G Herbo must have noticed how good J. Cole’s Inevitable podcast is. The latter was able to offer his fans exclusive content behind a paywall, and Herbo attempted a very similar approach on his latest mixtape, Best Rapper Alive . Instead of putting it on Spotify or Apple Music or even YouTube, he decided to publish the tape on his website. Well, an app that can be downloaded from his website. The rapper is trying to cut out the middleman and cater directly to his fan base with Best Rapper Alive. The music is exactly what you’d expect.
Best Rapper Alive has 16 songs, and G Herbo excels in almost all of them. “Through the Fire” and “Roc Block” showcase the rapper’s charisma. G Herbo already offers his fans two separate projects in 2024. It’s a bit ironic, though, that he decided to put “Best Rapper” on an exclusive app, rather than one named specifically for his fans. We digress. “Blueprint” and “Hold Me Down” are also excellent cuts, featuring G Herbo’s smooth rhythms and energetic vocal performance. You can decide if you want to download a new app to listen to. Those who do, though, will be happy.

Elias’ favorite artists are Andre 3000, MF Doom, pre-808s Kanye West and Tyler, The Creator. He likes L.A. hip-hop, but not L.A. sports teams. The first album he bought was Will Smith’s “Big Willie Style,” which he thinks still sounds great.
