Yasiin Bey, one of the most elusive rappers of our time, is back…sort of. The Brooklyn emcee formerly known as Mos Def is hitting the fans with some curveballs, something he’s become accustomed to doing over the past few years. Recently, the Black Star artist took to his Instagram page to make a big announcement about some sort of listening experience. “ASIIN BEY presents ‘Money Christmas’. A live stream performance exclusively available on BANDCAMP. Whatever you think it is…it’s not that,” he began. “Live broadcast on Sunday 15th December at 8pm CET / 7pm GMT / 2pm EST / 11am PST, broadcast worldwide.” The “Money Christmas” he refers to is the so-called EP.
For those wondering, tickets to the event are $7.99. He put all the songs he performed in this live broadcast into this project. Of course, they will be mixed and mastered for everyone’s listening pleasure. Bey did say that the concert will still be available for viewing for 48 hours after it ends. However, it was nowhere to be found. According to Consequence Sound, the actual tape will be available for purchase “24-48 hours after the show.” But so far, Yasiin Bey hasn’t shared “Money Christmas” on Bandcamp, which is the only place it can be heard. Instead, it just says the pre-order price is $9.99. Having said that, this means there is no information whatsoever about these songs. Hopefully fans will be able to get it sometime tonight or no later than Tuesday.
