Lil Durk’s first attempt to post bail in murder-for-hire case was denied.
Judge rejects Lil Duk bond proposal
Duke’s attorneys filed a motion for pretrial release on Thursday (December 12) in a bid to have the rapper released on bail ahead of trial, XXL confirmed. The 32-year-old rapper’s legal team posted a bond covering two of Durk’s Georgia properties with a combined value of $2.3 million, plus $1 million in cash from Sony Music. Representatives for the Chicago artist also said Duke was free on bail in a 2019 criminal intent to murder case. Those charges were later dropped.
“The best factor in determining a person’s future conduct is their past conduct, and Mr. Banks has demonstrated that he respects the court’s order and is an ideal candidate for pretrial release,” Banks’ attorneys wrote.
Prosecutors rejected that argument, calling the bond proposal “woefully inadequate.”
“Evidence gathered in this case also revealed that the defendant was involved in offering monetary rewards for other murders, including by the family of a witness,” prosecutors wrote. “The defendant’s modus operandi was clear: He would use his power, money, influence and any pretrial release to endanger anyone he believes poses a threat, including witnesses in this case.”
After a lengthy hearing, the judge ultimately sided with the prosecution.
XXL has reached out to Duke’s attorney for comment.

Surviving the L.A. murders unscathed. However, his cousin Saviya Robinson (aka Lul Prabhu) was mortally wounded.
Durk pleaded not guilty to the charges last month. His trial date is scheduled for January 7, 2025.
