JT’s heartfelt condolences to her brother JR

JT revealed she’s dealing with the loss of a loved one just as she begins a new chapter in her life.

The former City Girls rapper took to Twitter on Thursday (December 5) to post a tribute in memory of his younger brother JR, who recently passed away. JT, the eldest of her mother’s three children, explained that she was unable to properly “mourn” the loss of her younger sibling due to the responsibility of handling her younger sibling’s arrangements and making sure everything was going well for other family members.

“Losing my brother and being the oldest child in the family I really didn’t have a fair chance to grieve because I had to make sure he left well and my mom was happy…” JT wrote in part content. “I love you JR [grey heart emoji] 4 forever.

While the details surrounding her brother’s death are unclear, JT is clearly upset about the tragedy, which is understandable. In a follow-up post, she shared a childhood photo with her brother, adding, “I pray you are in a safe and comfortable place.”

JT is reportedly the youngest of her father’s 16 children, besides her mother’s siblings. That being said, the Cinderella lyricist celebrated her 32nd birthday just days before she announced the loss of her brother. On December 3, JT hosted a birthday dinner in Miami, but because it was held at the Rick Owens store in the Design District, it ended up being the opening event of Art Basel.

“I’m reaching for the stars,” JT told iD Magazine of her plans to host a party at the store. “I eventually gave up on the idea, but a month ago the team let me know I could do it.”

Although the “JT Coming” rapper is going through a tough time, thankfully she has her closest friends and family by her side. In addition to Lil Uzi Vert’s attendance, Yung Miami also attended the dinner, sparking fans’ hopes for a City Girls reunion.
